About

The person who turns up is the person who does the work.

I'm Maciej, the hands and the name behind HMA Renovations. My story starts in Poland, where I trained as a joiner and learned to work timber properly, by hand, the old way. After that I served in the Polish Army, in the Military Police, which is where discipline, order and finishing what you start became second nature.

In 2007 I moved to England and brought those two things with me: a joiner's eye and a soldier's standards. Since then I've built a reputation around Southend fitting kitchens from A to Z, building wardrobes to measure, laying floors, hanging doors and crafting garden carpentry, and I do the finishing myself, so every edge, gap and joint is right before I call a job done.

With HMA Renovations you deal with one person from the first measure to the final clean. No handing you between people, no excuses. If something comes up, I solve it. That's the promise behind the name: your vision, our construction.

Off the clock

Away from the tools, I'm a keen speed windsurfer. It's not a casual hobby, I race in the GPS speed rankings and sit among the top riders in both Poland and England. Last season I finished 2nd in the world in my weight category for one-hour and half-hour average speed, which takes the same patience, precision and nerve as a tricky fit-out. Chasing speed on the water and chasing a perfect finish in a kitchen come from the same place, and that's exactly what I bring to your home. So if the forecast is perfect and I'm hard to reach for a day, you'll know where I am, back on the tools the next morning, as focused as ever.
